About the Fan Park
You don’t have to get kitted up and on your bike to enjoy the official Tour de France Sportive. For the first time this year we will be joined by the Tour de France Fan Park, bringing a taste of France to the English countryside. Great for the whole family, the Park offers an array of bike based fun and games with a French festive feel for Bastille Day.
Where to start? Stage 9 of the Tour de France will be shown live on the big screen and it is sure to be a good one. Starting in Saint Etienne the riders will hit Mur D’Aurec-Sur-Loire after 36.5km with a 3.2km long climb at 11%. A brave breakaway could pay off here, especially with Cote de Saint-Just waiting just 13km from the finish. Watch in the sunshine whilst tucking into the Regional food on offer in the French food market, featuring La Kordun Kitchen serving traditional crepes and coffee, Petit Sausage offering the French take on hot dogs, if you fancy something more substantial after completing our long route then the Barbarian Grill has got you covered with gourmet French meats from the coals. Got a sweet tooth? Auberge Chocolat is serving premium French chocolate all day.
We are joined by Mad Squirrel serving their own craft ales brewed locally, and, perfect for that summer’s day, The Griffiths Brothers will be serving up their locally distilled gin in a variety of refreshing cocktails.
Not taking part in the Sportive? We have a host of activities going on all day; race your friends on the bike powered Scalextric track to be crowned Tour de Scalextric champion. Fancy something a little healthier, make your own smoothie using pedal power. Who can make the most lump free smoothie?
For the kids we have an adventure course for them to tackle on bikes. Up and over the ramp or under the low beam. Its great away for kids to get more out of their cycling and have some fun doing all under strict supervision. British Cycling are also joining us, offering children the chance to cycle their own course and sample sportive riding for themselves.
Finally, and by no means least, The Amersham Classic is a big part of the day. Displays of vintage bikes, clothing and cars running through out the day culminating in the 52km parade ride. Prizes are awarded for best bike, kit and Tour de France inspired look.
This years L’Etape UK is set to be a real celebration of the Tour de France for the whole family. Whether you are riding, spectating or simply having a nice day out at the Fan Park, there is something for everyone.
