WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY EVENT PACK / I HAVEN’T RECEIVED MY EVENT PACK?
You will receive your event pack about 2 weeks before your event; possibly as late as the Friday before the event. Your event pack will be posted to the address submitted in the registration form, unless the address is not based in the UK. International packs will need to be collected from the help desk on the day of the event. Participants who have lost or not received their event pack can collect a new one on the day of the event from the help desk. You will be required to show some form of photo ID if collecting a new pack.
I DO NOT LIVE IN THE UK, WILL MY EVENT PACK BE SENT?
No, all overseas participants are required to collect their event pack on the day (for some events the pack needs to be collected the day before the event) from the onsite help desk. Some form of photo ID must be shown to collect this. Please note, our event packs are not posted to addresses based in the Channel Islands.
WHAT TYPE OF BIKE IS PERMITTED FOR A SPORTIVE?
The following bikes ARE permitted in the Human Race Sportive Series:
- Road bikes
- Single-speed (both fixed and freewheel) bicycles are permitted provided they have fully functioning brakes
- Hybrid and Cyclocross bikes
- Mountain bikes are allowed – however we do advise that you fit slick tyres to them to help you save energy
- Folding bicycles
- Tandem bikes – if you are planning to ride a tandem, you do need two entries as there are two of you riding
- Electric bikes (remember, a sportive is not a race!)
The following are NOT permitted in the Human Race Sportive Series:
- Fixed wheel with no brakes
- Fixed wheel with only a front brake
- Any bicycle with only one brake
- Penny Farthings
- BMX bikes
- Towed trailers
- Child carriers
- Tag-a-long trailers bicycles
- Trailer bicycles
- Cargo bicycles
- Specialist time-trial bicycles are not allowed as they do not allow for immediate control of the bicycle
- Any bicycle without 360° rider visibility
- Unconventional handlebars (including triathlon bars, aero bars, clip-ons, prayer bars, Spinaci bars and cow bars)
- Handlebars without bar-end plugs
CAN I HIRE A BIKE?
Bike hire is available for some of our cycling events. For information please visit the event site online.
WILL THERE BE CUT OFF TIMES DURING MY RIDE?
Some of our rides will include cut-off points. This means that you must arrive at a certain point of the course before an allotted time. Details of any cut-off times will be featured in the official event guide sent to all participants, and can also be viewed on the event site.
I WANT TO CHANGE THE DISTANCE OF MY RIDE; WHAT DO I DO?
This is possible subject to availability. Please contact us before the event, outlining your change request. If changing to a longer distance you will also be required to pay any difference in price.
WHEN WILL WAVE TIMES BE RELEASED?
Wave times are generally released a few weeks before the event. We publish this on the event site and email all participants confirmation of their official start time approximately 3 days before the event.
CAN I CHANGE MY START TIME?
Yes, but you still need to start within the general start time-period allocated to your distance. The general start times will be published in the event guide. Your specific start time will be sent via email approximately 3 days prior to the event.
HOW DO I ATTACH MY TIMING CHIP?
Your timing chip will be inside your event pack accompanied with instructions. Please stick the timing chip securely on the left hand-side of your helmet.
WHAT IF I LOSE MY TIMING CHIP?
If you lose your timing chip you will need to visit the onsite helpdesk to collect a replacement pack before starting your cycle. Please note, you will be issued with a new event pack which means you will be given a new number.
WILL FEED STATIONS BE AVAILABLE?
Yes, we ensure that feed stations are available at all our cycling events. Feed stations provide riders with an on opportunity to grab refreshments and food at certain points throughout the route. Our feed stations also have toilet facilities.
WHERE CAN I FIND A COPY OF THE HIGHWAY CODE?
All those participating in cycling events which are not closed road (share the course with other road users) must abide by the Highway Code. Please follow this link to recap your knowledge.
